Illinois ASPIRE Training Modules
A key objective of Illinois ASPIRE is to "deliver standardized research-based professional development in problem-solving, including Response to Intervention (RtI), scientifically-based reading instruction, and standards-aligned instruction and assessment" through:
- A coaching model for targeted data collection/demonstration districts in each region,
- Large scale trainings throughout each region, and
- Ongoing technical assistance to data collection/demonstration schools.
To support the large scale training component of this objective, the four Illinois ASPIRE regions developed and utilize core training modules. Click on any of the following training topics to access the PowerPoint file for the corresponding module:

Overview of 3-Tier Problem-Solving Model, including RtI
This module serves as an introduction to the three-tier problem-solving model and its design and implementation in elementary schools as an early intervening service. Topics defined, described and discussed include the problem-solving process, problem identification, problem analysis, RtI and use of scientifically-based interventions to meet educational needs of all students, including those with disabilities and at risk for academic difficulties.

Universal Screening and Benchmarking for Success
This module is designed to prepare school teams to administer, score and interpret curriculum-based measures of reading performance to make instructional decisions. Training activities include feasible strategies for organizing data collection and interpretation of the data for use at the Tier 1 level.

Problem Identification and Problem Analysis
This module covers foundational concepts and vocabulary of problem identification (PI), strategies for PI for referral and universal screening practices, foundations for norm-based and/or standards based PI for academics and behavior and examples of PI at the level of the district, school and individual students.

Documenting for Success: Scientifically Based Progress Monitoring
This module helps prepare school teams to implement curriculum-based measures to monitor student progress and to make instructional decisions to enhance the performance of all students. At the completion of this training, school teams will be prepared to implement a curriculum-based measurement system and utilize it to guide educational decision-making for all students.

Collaborating for Success: Team Building and Leadership in an RtI Model
This module is designed to prepare team members to function as a cohesive and effective problem-solving team, including strategies for overcoming obstacles to effective collaboration and development of inclusive learning communities. The role of school leadership in establishing a unified service delivery system is highlighted.
